In June 1967, Egypt and Syria generated the Six Day War and Jordan entered the fighting by attacking Jerusalem. Two days later, after heavy fighting, the Israeli army managed not only to drive Arab forces far from the western part of the city, but to conquer the Jordanian side as well and to reunite the city.
